Online Shop Launch and Giveaway Celebration or O' S.L.A.G.

Well folks - the day has finally come - I've got on the launch pad, done the count down and now hit the button! I have an online shop! It needs filling up ... but that will come over the next few days. To celebrate I thought I would have my first giveaway. It has been so encouraging and plain old awesome to be part of such a supportive and rather amusing online community - that I thought I would share the love.

I am giving away this wee green apron AND also one of my little sun bonnets. The apron is reversable with a lovely mushroom brown on the back - unisex! It will fit size 1-3 and can also be worn as a tunic over jeans. The sun bonnet never really photographs that well - but I tell you they are cool. Keeps the sun off and looks very funky. 100% cotton with vintage covered button detail. Fits from size 1 up - depending on noggin size. It has ribbon ties - but Edie wears hers without - the elastic at the back keeps it on! The winner will get both! Open to anyone in Australia or on the globe.
'What do I have to do?' I hear you shout ... check out my shop on the side bar and then come back here and leave a comment - go on. I don't care if you are one of my mates. I don't care if this is your first time here. I don't care if you don't have children - give them to a friend - I don't care if you are feeling shy ...it is time to reveal yourself! Plus ... It will make my day if you leave a comment and then Edie and I will have lots of names to cut out and put in a hat. Think of the children!
Late edit: will draw aforementioned prize this Sunday at 7.00pm (ish)

May grey make your day

Guess what ... I'm an Aunty! I have a nephew. My sister-in-law has baby number one. Many say I can't be trusted in such a position but I did get so excited I made these bibs and a matching blanket. The blanket didn't photograph so well ... but it was backed with fleecy cotton and edged in ric rac and I was pretty darn pleased with myself. The bibs are made small ... for little ones. She said she was over the baby blue thing so when I saw this fabric I thought it may be a winner. I was excited. I made them weeks ago (Loz finished up the bibs) but couldn't put them here in case the secret got out. But they were posted off and now received so all's well.
I do have a thing for grey ... so I was stoked when I found this guy at the Mission Shop. He was sans saucer but I found one which I think was made for him. Complete again.

and continuing on the grey theme ... I was 'commissioned' (that's a posh way of saying 'asked nicely') to make an 'Event Belt'... you know ... somewhere to pop your phone, keys, notebook and pennies when you are on the job but not at your desk. Hope it worked - I was very nervous about it ... but was pretty happy with the result ... just a new spin on my kiddies aprons.

and in light of the pure delight I gleen from witty graffiti, may I leave you with this morsel of food for thought...

Spring Chicken and Mushrooms

We have some new arrivals in the family - six wee chicks - which we hope are chickens (but a couple, we suspect, may be roosters). Edie is intrigued by them, but a little unsure. Dunc built an awesome temporary 'hutch' out of cardboard for the little cuties. With our fruit trees blossoming, the chicks chirping and the lovely warm days we are having - I feel like I could stand in a clam shell, fashion my hair like Venus and be a pin up for Spring. It all got me in the mood to tackle a new apron ... it was on order with a couple of requests for green polka dots with pink. It was stumping me until I received a little inspiration via this gorgeous japanese mushroom fabric. I did a bit of a happy dance when I saw the result ... what do you think?

Cooking up an Apron

I finished this apron a few weeks ago ... Edie is at the stage now where she likes to stand on a chair next to me while I cook (and while Dunc does the dishes). I have very fond memories of cooking with my Mum! Edie is quite small for 15 months - so the apron is designed for 1- 3 year olds. You fold it over at the waist before you tie it to shorten it a little if desired. It has ties at the neck and waist so it is fully adjustable - oh, and reversible. I have some 'boyish' material on order too for all those little male chefs! I am working on some badges to go on the aprons ...but those are a surprise - stay tuned.
